How do I get a taxi on Caye Caulker?

Since there are no cars on the island, “taxis” are actually 4 to 8 seaters golf carts. Here is how to use them:

  1. Finding a Ride: Taxis are readily available at the Water Taxi terminals and the Caye Caulker Airport for every arriving flight and boat. You can also hail one down in the village or ask a local business to call one for you.
  2. Standard Rates: Expect to pay approximately $5 BZ ($2.50 USD) per person for trips within the village, or $10 BZ ($5 USD) per person if traveling to or from the airport.
  3. Going to the Northside: Taxis can take you as far as The Split. From there, you will transition to the split ferry to reach the Northside.
  4. Payment: Taxis are cash only (Belizean or US Dollars). It is helpful to have small bills ready.

      • Flight delays are not covered; travel insurance is highly recommended.
    • What payment methods are accepted?
      Payments via credit cards (Mastercard or Visa), local bank transfers, and cash (both USD and BZD) are accepted. Instructions provided after booking confirmation.
    • Can I modify my reservation?
      Modifications depend on availability, timing, and the terms of the cancellation policy outlined in your booking confirmation. Please contact us promptly to discuss any changes to your reservation.
    • Is my booking guaranteed once confirmed?
      Yes, your booking is guaranteed once you receive confirmation and your 50% deposit payment has been received to secure the reservation.
    • Are taxes and cleaning fees included in the nightly rate?
      No, nightly rates are not inclusive of the Government Hotel Tax (9% or 10.75% depending on the property). A fixed Laundry & Cleaning Fee is also separate and applied per stay.
    • Do you offer long-term rentals?
      Yes, we offer long-term rentals. Please contact us for more details.

    • What types of properties are available?
      We offer a wide variety of accommodations, including beachfront cabanas, cozy cottages, apartments, houses, villas, and luxury suites/penthouses. They range from rustic to modern, and accommodate singles, couples, families, or groups with bedroom options from studios to 5+ bedrooms.
    • What amenities do the properties include?
      Typically Wi-Fi, kitchens, air conditioning, linens, and housekeeping. Check each listing for details.
    • Are the properties pet-friendly?
      Some of our properties allow pets. Please inquire before booking.
    • Are the properties suitable for families or groups?
      Yes, many accommodate families and groups with multiple bedrooms and shared spaces.
    • Are the properties inspected or verified?
      Yes, all our properties are professionally managed and regularly inspected to ensure they meet our high standards for quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
    • What are the check-in and check-out times?
      Check-in: 3:00 p.m. (For early or late arrivals, please let us know your estimated arrival time in advance so we can prepare for you.)Check-out: 10:00 a.m. Exact details will be provided in your booking confirmation.
    • Do properties have private or shared pools?
      Only a few of our properties have pools. Tranquila Caye offers a private pool exclusively for your use, while condos within the Popeyes Beach Condos complex feature shared pools. One of our northside properties, Infinite Sea, has a pool shared between two units. Please refer to the individual property details for specifics.
    • Are linens and towels provided?
      Yes, all bed linens and bath towels are provided. We recommend bringing your own beach towels for sunny days at The Split or other swimming spots around the island.

    • How do I get to Caye Caulker and the properties?
      You typically fly into Belize City (BZE), then take a water taxi or a short local flight to Caye Caulker. We are happy to assist with arranging your transfers.
    • Can you arrange transportation from the airport to Caye Caulker?
      Yes, we can arrange shuttle services from Belize City airport (BZE) to the water taxi terminal, and further assistance upon your arrival on Caye Caulker.
    • Can you help with Tropic Air flight reservations?
      No, we don’t make direct local flight reservations; however, our team can provide you with a reservation link to conveniently book your own flight. 
    • Is there assistance upon arrival?
      Yes, we can arrange a taxi service from the Caye Caulker ferry docks or airport to ensure a smooth and welcoming arrival at your property.
    • Where can I buy a SIM card on Caye Caulker?

    • What if I miss the last water taxi (ferry) to the island, or are there faster alternatives?
      (Ferry): The last water taxi is around 5:30 PM. If you miss it, you must either stay overnight in Belize City or arrange an expensive, private charter boat. Schedule and fare changes are frequent; travelers must verify all departure times with the operators (Water Taxi/Sprinter) directly. (Alternative): For a faster option, you can choose to fly via Tropic Air from either Philip S.     • Do I need to exchange money for Belize Dollars (BZD)?
      You do not need to exchange money. We widely accept US Dollars (USD), BZD, and most major Credit Cards. Banks on the island offer currency exchange if you prefer BZD, but acceptance of all card types is subject to the individual vendor.
    • How should I arrange a taxi/shuttle from the mainland (airport/terminal)?
      Provide the driver with our phone number and ask them to call us when you are picked up or dropped off. This ensures easy coordination and a smooth transfer. We recommend using only reputable, licensed services for your safety.
    • How do I get to the Northside from Caye Caulker village?
      To reach the Northside, take a quick 2-minute Public ferry ride from The Split, Caye Caulker. You can use the Northside Ferry Service  ( https://www.facebook.com/northsideferry/ ) or the Split to Split Ferry Service   ( https://www.facebook.com/splitosplitferry) , which both run frequently from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m Belize time. Please note there is a small cash fee per person, with additional charges for  bicycles, or golf carts. If you need to cross after 10:00 p.m., you can hire a private speedboat for a premium dock-to-dock transfer.
