You will find a wide assortment of restaurants on the caye and like anywhere else; the quality will range from poor to terrific. We always advise people to stay mainstream in their eating habits. While some of the street vendors are aware of hygiene standards, you will not know if you made a wise choice until 24 hours later. Our experience with the better quality restaurants has resulted in the following recommendations:

• Operated by local Belizean owners, the Rainbow Restaurant offers a terrific setting to dine while looking east to the reef. A varied menu featuring local dishes, seafood and North American style items with something for everyone.
• Syd’s Restaurant on Middle Street has the best fried chicken on the caye. A lovely outdoor patio at the rear of the restaurant offers diner’s a quiet garden setting to sit and the restaurant also has an indoor seating area
• Bambooze Restaurant Bar on the front beach in the village centre has a uniquely Belizean flavour, with sand floors, swinging benches and a view of the reef. Local dishes and North American style menu.
