DAY TRIPS FROM CAYE CAULKER

Our main driver/guide on the mainland, Jason, provides the highest quality service and knows how to keep you safe and happy. You will be delighted with his character and knowledge of Belize. If, for some reason, Jason is not available, he will designate an equally responsible driver to look after you.
On the mainland you can find many activities to be enjoyed as day trips from Caye Caulker. The ruins at Lamanai are one of our most popular. Or combine a ruin, Altun Ha, with zip lining and cave tubing for a triple playday. Horseback riding, the Inland Blue Hole, the Baboon Sanctuary and the Belize Zoo are all within your reach from Caye Caulker and you can be home for sunset and dinner every night.

RUINS TOURS
Tours can be arranged to visit the following ruins, as day trips, from Caye Caulker. Info about visiting Maya Archeological Sites in Belize:
LAMANAI
Full day tour.
ALTUN HA
Part day tour. A small ruin, Altun Ha is usually included with one or two other activities on the mainland.
XUNANTUNICH
A medium sized ruin featuring the second largest known pyramid, after Carocol. A place of unsurpassed beauty and majesty, Xunantunich is not as widely visited as others but does offer an exemplary example of the Mayan civilization and culture. 07:30 water taxi from Caye Caulker and Jason, once again will take excellent care of you.
There are 2 ways to view the ancient ruins at Xunantunich.
Standard Xunantunich Tour
07:30 water taxi to Belize City where our driver will pick you up and drive you to the site just north of San Ignacio, about 1 1/2 hour drive. Crossing the Mopan River on a hand cranked ferry, you will be delivered to the base of the Xunantunch ruins. Here, a local guide of Mayan descent, educated in the history of his people will walk you thru the site.
When you are finished onsite, your driver will take you to a local restaurant to have lunch and then return you to the 5 pm water taxi.
Rate for this tour: $120.00 USD per person (water taxi not included). Includes all land transport, park fees, local guide fees and lunch.

Surf to Saddle Xunantunich Tour
06:30 water taxi to Belize City where our driver will pick you up and drive you to the stables in San Ignacio. Arriving around 09:30, you will saddle up and your tour guide will take you on a leisurely ride through the farm, along the forested banks of the Mopan River to a short stretch along the main road to the hand cranked ferry. Crossing the Mopan, you will ride up to the site, where your Mayan guide will take over and walk you thru the ruins.
When you are finished the ruins tour, you will lunch at the base of the ruins and then return on horseback to the stables. Your driver will then return you to the 5:30 pm water taxi to Caye Caulker.
Rate for this tour: $160.00 USD per person (water taxi not included). Includes all stock and tack, guides, park fees, land transport and lunch.

ACTUN TUNICHIL MUKNAL (ATM CAVE)
A full day tour from Caye Caulker, ATM is not for the faint of heart and will require the visitor to get wet and squeeze thru a few tight spaces. But those who take advantage of this remarkable excursion will take home some very exclusive memories of Mayan culture. This day tour requires the visitor to be on the 6:30 water taxi and Jason will once again take excellent care of you throughout the day.
CAVE TUBING
One of the most popular mainland activities, cave tubing can be enjoyed by all ages. A non strenuous float down a friendly river accompanied by competent guides, this activity is usually combined with one or two others. Images of Cave Tubing in Belize
ZIP LINING
BELIZE ZOO
The Belize Zoo is well known for the care and love given to the creatures who live there. Many rescued animals have been rehabilitated and released by the staff at the zoo, while some have come to call it home. This activity is usually combined with others, to make the trip to the mainland a worthwhile day long excursion.
